NIGERIAN CHURCH YESTERDAY AND TODAY

The strategies and joint efforts of Thomas Birch Freeman and Henry Townsend in 1842 led to the emergence and spread of the Nigerian church. Though they encountered a lot of oppositions, other missionaries came also and met tougher challenges, but the joy of it all is that their labour in prayers and evangelism was not in vain. The Holy Spirit backed them up and caused their seeds to grow.

Less than a hundred years later, a lot of indigenous leaders emerged. Christianity began to take a new shape and form, attracting the interest of more and more Nigerians. Revivals began to break out, especially the unforgettable Revival of 1930 in Ilesa, South West, Nigeria, which was led by a foremost Apostle, the late Joseph Ayodele Babalola.

Today, it is no news to say that the Nigerian church has spread to every nook and cranny of this nation.

This unique book takes you on a journey through The Emergence of the Nigerian Church, CAN and the Five Blocs of Church Groups, Over 50 Church Denominations in Nigeria, God’s Agenda for the Church, Is the Nigerian Church Losing Its Salt? Is the Church a Business Centre? The State of Today’s Church: The Place of Position and Ordination Today, Too Many Churches, Too Little Impacts, and The Place of Mammon in Many Churches Today.
